Chock Full of Awesome-ness!
What a wonderful past few days! I spent this past four days at the Professional Photographers of Washington Spring Convention (the 60th Anniversary, btw!). It was a great trip, to put it mildly… This year, I volunteered for the position of Hospitality Chairman (er, woman…). This means I had the wonderful opportunity to meet AND spend a couple of hours in the car with some A-MAZING people like Bev & Tim Walden (The Pres of Prof. Photographers of America and his oh so lovely wife), Suzette Allen and her wonderful hubby, John (Suzette is like, oh, the QUEEN of Photoshop!!!), Alethea Speakar (one of THE most incredible business educators for photographers one might ever dream of meeting!), the unbelievably talented and witty Wendy Newman (omgosh, look at her work – it is to-die-for!). This Hospitality gig was just one of the fab perks of helping with PPW.
Additionally, I was sworn in as the 2012 Vice President of Prof. Photographers of Washington – a wonderful honor, and very intimidating job!
Lastly, I was the recipient of the state’s trophy for best animal portrait. A beautiful image (if I may say so) of one of my client’s hilarious dogs. All four of my entries this year merited in state competition, which might not sound like much… but considering many photographers had images that did not hang (merit) – it was truly flattering to listen to the judges critique my work, and especially wonderful when one of my peers I respect, and whose work I aspire to compete against, asked me if I would consider trading a copy of my Alamo Oak print. OHMYGOSH, I was elated. That request was an award in, and of itself. (I am SO honored and flattered, Ernst!)
Off to new and exciting things! (OH, btw – I also won a backdrop… lol A VERY nice backdrop….)
